N_Ports are a specific type of Fibre Channel port used in host bus adapters (HBAs). N_Port ID virtualization (NPIV) allows multiple N_Port IDs to share a single physical N_Port. NPIV eases storage area network (SAN) management by allowing multiple Fibre Channel initiators to use the same physical port.
