The company’s new NAS expansion products -- the JB-1200U and JB-1600U -- are designed to augment the QNAP TS-x97 series Turbo NAS with up to 400 TB of storage, which QNAP said would allow SMB buyers to add to the system as their storage needs grow. The company did not say when the products will be released.
QNAP's Turbo NAS lineup -- available in tower or rack-mount models and equipped with eight-, 10-, 12- or 16- drive bays -- are billed for “high-end” SMB customers, and support Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX platforms. Turbo NAS tower models have a built-in capacity of between 8 TB to 40 TB, and QNAP’s rack-mount models can carry between 16 TB to 64 TB of built-in storage, according to QNAP.
The company also introduced its NAS v3.7 management firmware upgrade, which adds features for business applications to many of its Turbo NAS models, and should be available within a week, according to QNAP.
