Seanodes unveils beta test program for Windows Server 2009

Seanodes, announced a Beta version of its Exanodes software for Microsoft Windows Server 2008. The software enables users to repurpose commoditized or existing hardware as an iSCSI SAN.

Exanodes supports a large range of servers and disks, including SATA and SAS disks and even SSD. Exanodes also provides versatility when it comes to aggregating different kinds of servers and disks in a single storage pool, enabling investment protection as well as total hardware vendor independence and the ability to build a tailored iSCSI array.

SANRAD adds Service Level Assurance feature to V-STOR & V-SWITCH

SANRAD Inc. has added storage Service Level Assurance (SLA) functionality to its V-STOR and V-Switch SAN. Without SLA, high-demand applications require their own separate infrastructures to ensure quality of service. With SANRAD's new SLA feature, high-priority applications, such as databases, CRM systems or even Exchange servers can be guaranteed access priority, ensuring a minimal guaranteed bandwidth access to the storage system. This SLA mechanism ensures that such applications will not experience performance degradation by lower-priority applications.

LaCie Merges with Wuala

LaCie announced a merger with Caleido AG, the creators of the online storage service, Wuala. Wuala assembles centralized and distributed storage. Once files are placed in Wuala, they are securely encrypted before being cut into several redundant fragments disseminated and stored on a cloud of computers. LaCie has plans to implement this "cloud storage" technology into its ranges of storage devices, offering a combined solution for storage -- local storage on devices for fast access, and secured remote storage on the cloud, for easy sharing and complete data versatility.
